Species: PYRITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 1, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 7 mm pyritohedron (pentagonal dodecahedron) crystal in triphylite matrix. Two views Field Collected: Bob Whitmore. A Ray Meyers specimen Catalog No.: A Ray Meyers specimen Notes: This is an excellent pyrite specimen from Palermo. |
Species: FAIRFIELDITE Locality: Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 3.5 mm field of view. Other views from same specimen included. Field Collected: From the Mike Swanson collection. Catalog No.: u2299 Notes: The habit and association are very similar to that shown for fairfieldite in Whitmore & Lawrence's book The Pegmatite Mines Known as Palermo. The host matrix is rockbridgeite. The rockbridgeite has a lot of inter-mixed pyrite, causing slow disintegration of the specimen. The small tan crystals a jahnsite. |

Species: FAIRFIELDITE with Jahnsite Locality: Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 1.4 mm field of view. Field Collected: From the Mike Swanson collection. Acquired at the MMNE February 2020 Silent Auction. Catalog No.: u2299 Notes: |
Species: MUSCOVITE Locality: Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 2 cm muscovite crystal cluster Field Collected: Bob Whitmore - 1973. Catalog No.: A Ray Meyers specimen Notes: Muscovite cluster perched on edge of partial smoky quartz crystal. |

Species: SCORZALITE Locality: Palermo #2 Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 5 mm field of view Field Collected: Jim Nizamoff Catalog No.: A Jim Nizamoff specimen and photo Notes: Scorzalite crystals are rare at the Palermo Mines. Massive scorzalite is common. Jim Nizamoff forwarded two analyses from Palermo #2 lazulite-scorzalite series specimens. [tm] I have neglected tiny bits of Ca, Na, Mn, Ti, F reported in Jim's analyses. Lazulite: (Fe0.349,Mg0.629)Al2.019(PO4)2.0(OH)2.0 Scorzalite: (Fe0.732,Mg0.211)Al2.069(PO4)2.0(OH)2.0 |

Species: BERTRANDITE Locality: Water Pocket Locality, Albany, NH Specimen Size: 1.5 mm field of view Field Collected: Bob Wilken Catalog No.: A Matt Butler specimen photo and PLM images Notes: Matt reported: "The PLM interference figure image 'best matches' an acute biaxial figure. In this case only the lower right part of it is in the view of my scope at 63x so we can only see one of the 'bullseyes' instead of both. The 2nd image is with a full wave plate filter inserted, and it shows the color change to blue at the bottom of the "bullseye" confirming the xl is optically negative which also matches bertrandite." |

Species: ANATASE Locality: Aggregate Industries Quarry, Raymond, NH Specimen Size: 0.15 mm anatase crystal (tiny !) with clear brookite crystal top center Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u2291 Notes: |
Species: ANATASE Locality: Aggregate Industries Quarry, Raymond, NH Specimen Size: 0.10 mm anatase crystal (tiny !) Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u2291 Notes: |
Species: ANATASE Locality: Aggregate Industries Quarry, Raymond, NH Specimen Size: 0.10 mm anatase crystal (tiny !) Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u2291 Notes: |
Species: ILMENITE Locality: Aggregate Industries Quarry, Raymond, NH Specimen Size: 0.10 mm ilmenite crystal (tiny !) Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u2291 Notes: Also on the u2291 micro-boxed specimen with anatase is this lustrous metallic black crystal. Only about a mm away from the anatase, so assuming ilmenite. I cannot discount the possibility that this is hematite. |

Species: ZIRCON Locality: Aggregate Industries Quarry, Raymond, NH Specimen Size: 0.8 mm zircon crystal Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u2292 Notes: THis is a re-do of an earlier photo |
